MCD Mayor Election Update: The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected councilors is going on at the Civil Center of Municipal Corporation of Delhi from 11 am on Tuesday. After the swearing-in is over, votes will be cast to elect the mayor, deputy mayor and six members of the standing committee. Meanwhile, Delhi Congress has decided to stay out of voting. State Congress President Anil Chaudhary has written a letter to the leader of the Congress party and other corporators in the MCD, making it clear that they can be present in the House for the swearing-in ceremony, but as decided by the party, no candidate will be allowed to participate in the mayoral election. No councilor of the party will take part. Various speculations are being made after this stand of the Congress.
Earlier, on January 5, the Congress leaders, supervisors of the All India Congress Committee, Dr. Ajoy Kumar and BP Singh had held a special meeting with all the councilors of the party. It was decided in the meeting that all the councilors of the party will not participate in the election for the post of Mayor. If any councilor goes against this decision, the party will consider it as indiscipline. The party is still firm on its decision. It has also been said on behalf of the party that the party will not support any party. The Congress party will raise its voice against the wrong policies of the combined power of the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP to protect the interests of the public and the officers in the MCD. The Congress party has always been raising its voice against the one-sided thinking of the BJP and AAP. p>
The party will consider going against the decision as indiscipline
Congress state president Anil Chaudhary has written in his tweet that he has written a letter to the leader of the Congress party and other councilors in the MCD saying that they can be present in the House for the oath ceremony, but as decided by the party that No municipal councilor will take part in the voting of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee. Doing so will be considered against the party.
Congress fully exposed
After his tweet, AAP leader Adil Ahmed Khan has targeted the Congress by tweeting. AAP leader Adil Khan has said that Congress has decided to make BJP win by abstaining from voting in the election of Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi. In his tweet, he has also mentioned that BJP won the mayor’s election in Chandigarh by one vote a week ago. This became possible because 6 councilors of the Congress party had decided to stay away from the elections. Somewhere in MCD also the intention of Congress is not the same. Adil says that we have the majority, so the decision of the Congress will not affect the result of the mayor’s election, but the attitude of the Congress has exposed its mentality.
Tell that the total number of councilors in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is 250. AAP’s 134 candidates have reached MCD after winning. 104 candidates of BJP managed to win. There are 9 councilors of Congress in the corporation. While three independent councilors were also successful in winning. From this point of view, the victory of the AAP candidate over the Mayor is certain. Despite this, the AAP leaders are apprehensive that the BJP may play a game by breaking the AAP councillors. Since the anti-defection law is not applicable in the mayor’s election, you leaders are skeptical about BJP’s strategy.
