Vijay Babu Anticipatory Bail Petition: Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu, accused of raping his female colleague, filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kerala High Court on Friday. The Kerala Police on Thursday issued a look out notice to the actor in a rape case. The court is likely to hear his plea in the afternoon session.
In his petition he said that the actress is trying to blackmail him. The actor said that he has all the evidence including chat messages between him and the complainant to prove his innocence and he will also present it before the court. Police suspects that Babu has fled the country and is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the police, Babu is absconding after a complaint was lodged by a lady colleague from Kozhikode in Ernakulam. He raped and thrashed her several times in a flat in Kochi. The complaint was lodged on April 22. Soon after the news surfaced, Babu claimed to have come live on his social media handle on Wednesday. Said that he was the ‘real victim’ in this case, he said that he would take appropriate legal steps against the complainant, whom he also named.
Police have registered a second case against the actor for disclosing the name of the complainant, besides his complaint. They have also accused the actor of intoxicating her before sexually assaulting her. While talking to media Top police officer C.H. Nagaraju said that they have started investigation against him and have also collected evidence.
