Ambati Rayudu not retiring after IPL 2022, he will be with us: CSK CEO

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that Ambati Rayudu won’t be retiring after the conclusion of the ongoing season and will remain associated with the franchise in the future. On Saturday (May 14), Rayudu took to Twitter and dropped a major bombshell. He announced ‘IPL 2022 will be his last season’ as he’ll retire from the Indian Premier League after the ongoing competition.

The more shocking part was that Rayudu deleted the tweet minutes after posting it. His social media activities caused an uproar on social media with fans being perplexed. However, the CEO of the franchise was quick to clarify that the 36-year-old won’t retire and will remain associated with the franchise in the future.

“Rayudu is not retiring. He will be with us,” the CSK CEO was quoted as per saying by NDTV journalist Vishesh Roy. The statement spread like wildfire and the turn of events gave rise to a lot of speculations.

Meanwhile, Rayudu had earlier tweeted that he’ll retire after the end of the season. He had also thanked Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings for providing him with the opportunities. “I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey,” he had written in the deleted post.

It must be noted that Rayudu joined CSK in 2018 and has been a vital part of the franchise since then. The dasher is truly a captain’s delight as he bat anywhere in the line-up to provide stability and balance to the team. Be it playing the anchor’s role or scoring quick runs towards the end, Rayudu has embraced all challenges which came his way. Before joining the Yellow Army, Rayudu was associated with five-time champions Mumbai Indians for 2010 to 2017.
