Another big blow to the Australian team, former captain Steve Smith was also injured

AUS Vs SL: Australia’s difficulties in the ODI series being played against Sri Lanka are not taking the name of lessening. Australia batsman Steve Smith is set to be ruled out of the third one-day international against Sri Lanka as the former captain is battling an injury in the second match of the series. With Smith likely to sit out, he is the seventh player in the Australian white-ball team led by Aaron Finch to suffer an injury.

Steve Smith is likely to be available for the Test series though. A media report from Australia claimed, "Although the injury is not considered serious, rest was needed during this period and with the Test series starting in just 11 days, Australia’s medical staff decided to be cautious."

Starc is also injured

Also, Travis Head has been sent to Kandy from Hambantota as cover for the injured Marcus Stoinis. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc is also already injured. Starc is certain to be out of the third ODI. Nothing can be said about whether Starc will be able to be a part of the last two matches of the series.
