Before PM Modi’s visit, a large French company pulled out of India’s project ’75 India’

PM Modi Tour on Franc: Just before PM Modi’s visit to France, Naval Group, a major French submarine maker, has pulled out of India’s Project 75 (I). French media has given this information by quoting the Naval Group. In July last year, India’s Defense Ministry had issued an order to build six submarines for the Navy. It was named Project 75 (India). The total cost of this project is about 43 thousand crores. Let us tell you that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to France, Germany and Denmark on May 2 for a three  day tour.

For the P-75i project, RFP ie Request for Proposal was sent to five big companies around the world. These five companies had to choose between two Indian companies, MDL or L&T, to manufacture these six submarines in India. These five companies were Naval Group-DCNS of France, Rosoboronexport of Russia, Thyssenkrupp of Germany, Novantia of Spain and Daewoo of South Korea. Now all three European and Russian companies have pulled out of this project. There is only one Daewoo company left in South Korea.

Naval Group is making 6 Scorpene class submarines with MDL
Let us tell you that Naval Group is making six Scorpene class submarines in collaboration with MDL. Of these, four, the Kalvari class submarines, have joined the Navy and the fifth is under sea-trial and the sixth, Vagshir, was ‘launched’ in the sea this month. Last year i.e. on April 2021, the Ministry of Defense cleared the way for the construction of six new stealth-submarines for the Indian Navy amid the challenges being faced by China in the Indian Ocean. The Defense Acquisition Council headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has launched ‘Project-75 India’ under the Strategic-Partnership Model. (P-75I) was given the green signal. After this, in July 2021, now the Ministry of Defense has launched six ‘Conventional’ under this project. The RFP for the Stealth Submarine was released.

There will be no need to remove from the submarine again and again
This project will be completed under the Strategic-Partnership model, in such a situation, the Ministry of Defense has approved indigenous shipyards, Mazagon Dockyard (MDL) and L&T This RFP was also issued to These indigenous shipyards had a provision to manufacture these six conventional ie diesel-electric submarines in the country only in a joint venture with a foreign company. These are of course six conventional submarines but they are AIP ie Air-Independent Propulsion Submarine. The advantage of this is that they will not need to get out of the sea again and again like a diesel-electric submarine. That is, in a way they are stealth-submarine.
