BJP worried about the brightness of the Statue of Unity

Gujarat Election 2022: There is a 182 meter tall statue (Statue of Unity) of the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Kevadia in Narmada district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Statue of Unity in the year 2018. This is going to be the first assembly election in Gujarat after the inauguration of this huge statue. Today, after four years, the Statue of Unity is a major tourist spot in Gujarat. Despite all this, the BJP is facing opposition here.

Nandod (ST reserved) assembly seat is in Narmada district. Kevadia comes under this. In the 2017 elections, the Congress had won this seat from the BJP. This time it is necessary for the BJP to win the Nandod assembly seat. In fact, BJP has staked a lot on this seat, because both the Statue of Unity and the Sardar Sarovar Dam are located here. These are two ambitious projects of the Modi government. These schemes are also at the center of BJP’s election campaign. 

How do the tribals see the Statue of Unity?
The Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world, it may be an achievement for the Modi government, but it is equally attractive to the tribals here. does not Actually, the tribals here have struggled a lot in their life for both these projects and have lost a lot. The government is alleged to have acquired the land of the residents for the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited project, due to which they had to be displaced and lost their jobs. At the same time, the court also rejected the argument of the tribals. During the construction of the Statue of Unity and the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the tribals protested fiercely.

According to the news of Indian Express, 40-year-old Ganpat Tadvi told that he had to leave his shop. Now he runs a tea shop near the parking area of ​​the Statue of Unity, earning less than half of what he used to earn. Ganpat Tadvi further said,  The outsiders have benefited from the Statue of Unity. What did the tribal families get from this? Our lands were taken away while our children were promised laukri by the government, we are still waiting for laukri. 

Similarly, residents of Pipadia village, residents of Kevadia and other villages here are very angry with the BJP. BJP’s credibility is at stake on one more seat in Narmada district. BJP is making efforts to win Dediapada seat on the basis of Statue of Unity. Let us tell you that in the 2017 elections, the Indian Tribal Party, an ally of the Congress, had won the Dediapada seat.
