Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting wants his team to improve their batting in the power play as poor batting led them to lose their second match of IPL 2022 against Gujarat Titans. 171 to win Chasing runs, Delhi’s team could score 43 for 3 in the power play against Gujarat and eventually lost. Hence, the Delhi head coach blamed poor batting in the first six overs for their loss in the second match.
Ricky Ponting said, "Unfortunately for us in the second match in a row, three wickets fell in the power play and we lost before eight balls. We had the match, but if you lose three wickets in the powerplay, it becomes really difficult to win the match. This is definitely an area where we need to get better."
Ponting added, "There was some nervousness. At one stage we were ahead in the match and that’s why it was a bit disappointing." Ponting has set some tasks for Shaw, who has not been at his best so far.
Delhi coach further said, "He batted beautifully in the first match, but after that he could not move forward and did not do what he wanted, but we were able to win the first match due to a good start."
