According to a statement issued by the Assam Rifles, the contingent will be led by Captain Akshay. Soldiers recruited from across the country are participating in the contingent, which reflects the message of unity in diversity. A mixed contingent of men and women of the Assam Rifles will march shoulder to shoulder, symbolizing the message of equal opportunity for all, the statement said.
‘It’s a matter of pride’
According to the news of the Indian Express, an officer said that it is a matter of pride for the Assam Rifles to field a strong mixed contingent of 144 soldiers marching on Republic Day this year. The officer said, "This contingent comprises 72 Riflemen and 72 Riflewomen, which is unique and a matter of pride for all."
Women became part of the Assam Rifles for the first time in 2015
Let us tell you that a total of 16 march-past contingents and 23 tableaux of states and ministries-departments will be included in the parade. The tableaux of the Navy and some states will convey the message of women power.
