Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that millions of Ukrainians are without electricity, as Russian attacks have destroyed the country’s energy infrastructure.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said, "Currently, more than 10 million Ukrainians are without electricity. The most affected are the regions of Odessa, Vinnitsa, Sumy and Kyiv." However, Zelensky gave hope to his people, saying that they are constantly trying to restore the power supply.
Russia targeting Ukraine’s power grid
Russia first attacked the residential areas of Ukraine and then started attacking Ukraine’s power grid. Recently, Russia has released its occupation from the Kherson region, which is being seen as a major victory for Zelensky, but Russia has not reduced the attacks on Ukraine. According to media reports, Russia is continuously targeting Ukraine’s power grid. According to AFP, the damage to Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure is so extensive that authorities are forced to cut power to relieve the grid.
Fresh missile attack kills 7
According to the report published on BBC, on Thursday, Russia launched a fresh missile barrage attack on Ukraine, due to which many energy installations and other civilian buildings were heavily damaged. Ukraine’s presidential office said seven people were killed when a missile hit an apartment block in Vilnysk, near the southern city of Zaporizhzhya.
Attack on gas production plant and missile factory
Officials say a gas production plant in the east and a missile factory in Dnipro were among the latest targets. Meanwhile, people affected by power cuts are mainly in the capital, Kyiv, the western city of Vinnytsia, the port city of Odessa in the southwest and Sumy in the northeast. Zelensky accused Russia of destroying its people’s electricity and heat supplies.
