Durg’s Chaman hoisted the flag on Himachal’s Mount Friendship Peak, faced these challenges

Chhattisgarh News: Chaman Lal Kose of Patan, living in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, has set a new record in the field of mountaineering. Chaman has hoisted the Chhattisgarhia Olympic flag on the 17,353 feet Mount Friendship Peak located in Solang Valley, Himachal Pradesh. 25-year-old Chaman is fond of mountaineering since childhood. Chaman Lal Kose thanked the MLA of his constituency and Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel for this campaign. 

Expedition completed in 6 days
Chaman Lal Kose Mount Friendship Peak conquered in 6 days. He started the climb from Advance Base Camp on 15th November at 10:10 PM and completed it at 03:40 AM on 16th November. Had left for this campaign from Raipur on 10th November. During this, he covered a distance of about 24 kilometers by trekking at minus (-14 degree) temperature.

The climb was not easy
Chaman Lal Kose, who did the first winter expedition of Chhattisgarh, says that this climb was not easy. Many difficulties had to be faced during the climb. The biggest challenge was the wind chill factor. Means to avoid cold strong winds. Apart from this, avalanches had to be faced twice. Chaman says that during this time he also got hit by AMS disease occurring in the mountains, but his passion and passion to do something took him to the top.

Preparing to climb the next peak

Chaman Lal Kose did alpine technique climbing as well as winter expedition. Climbing with alpine technique means usually only 1-2 people are involved in this climb and complete the expedition. This is the highest grade mode in the field of mountaineering. Winter expedition means mountaineering in autumn. Only less than one percent of mountaineers are able to do winter expeditions. In this way, Chaman Lal Kose has become the first person from Chhattisgarh to do winter expedition at the national level. Earlier, Chhattisgarh’s Everest climber Rahul Gupta ‘Mountain Man’ has done alpine techniques as well as winter expeditions on the mountains of international level. Now next month, Chaman will climb the highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet / 5,895 meters), the highest peak of the continent of Africa. Which is the fourth highest peak in the ranking of the height of the mountains of the continents.

 5 years of experience

25-year-old Chaman Lal Kose is a resident of Patan in Durg district. Chaman belongs to a middle class family. His father is a farmer. Along with this, Chaman is currently a student of the first semester of the Department of Social Work in Kushabhau Thakre Journalism and Mass Communication University, Raipur. Mountaineer Chaman Lal Kose has done a course in mountaineering from the Institute of Mountaineering in Sikkim and a course in rock climbing from the Swami Vivekananda Institute in Mount Abu, Rajasthan. Experience of last 5 years in the field of adventure sports like mountaineering. He has also learned work in adventure sports based company and institute of Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh.
