According to media reports, Rajkumar was born in 1962 in Nagpur. He studied from there till graduation. His father Suresh Hirani used to run a typing center. He used to help his father in his work, but he was not interested in the family business. He was interested in acting and films. His father sent him to join an acting school in Mumbai, but he returned after three days. Later, he joined the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, where he specialized in film editing.
