New Delhi: The film ‘Henna’ was an unfulfilled dream of Raj Kapoor, which was fulfilled by his elder son Randhir Kapoor. The film starring Rishi Kapoor and Zeba Bakhtiar was released in 1991 and was a super hit. When Raj Kapoor was shooting for ‘Mera Naam Joker’ in 1970, he heard a sher which went something like this – ‘Surkh-roo hota hai insaan thokeron khane ke baad, rang laati hai hina patthar pe pis jaane baad.’ He thought of the title of the film from this lion and the process of making the film started. The songs and dialogues of this film are still enshrined in the hearts of people. Surprisingly, the brilliant dialogues of this film were written by a Pakistani writer, for which she did not even take any credit and suggested Raj Kapoor to cast Jeba Bakhtiar.
Raj Kapoor talked to his friend and writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas about the film ‘Hina’ and asked him to write a story on it. Abbas Saheb wrote a story in a few days and handed it over to Raj Kapoor. At that time ‘Mera Naam Joker’ was released, which was a flop at the box office, so he postponed the idea of making ‘Hina’ for some time, but his next film ‘Bobby’ was successful, so he again got ‘Hina’. ‘ I remembered.
Raj Kapoor decided that he would cast Nafisa Ali opposite Randhir Kapoor in ‘Hina’. When he spoke to the Government of Pakistan in connection with the shooting, things could not materialize due to some reason. Raj Kapoor was forced to stop the work of the film once again. After making ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ and ‘Prem Rog’, Raj Kapoor once again thought of making ‘Hina’. Now he wanted to take younger son Rajeev Kapoor in the film. This time he got permission to shoot from Pakistan, but he passed away before the shooting started.

According to media reports, Raj Kapoor initially wanted to take Pakistani pop star Nazia Hassan for the lead role in the film, but she wanted to focus on singing, so refused to act in the film.

Therefore, Raj Kapoor Sahib was forced to put Jainendra Jain’s name in the credits. When she was writing dialogues for the film, she told Raj Kapoor about Jeba Bakhtiar, who was then a popular TV actress. After seeing Jeba’s work, Raj Kapoor had made up his mind to take him in the film, but he left this world before being contacted. He breathed his last on 2 June 1988.
When Randhir Kapoor approached Haseena Moin
When Randhir Kapoor came to know about this whole story, he contacted Jeba through Haseena Moin. He called Jeba to India for audition. Randhir as well as Rishi Kapoor were impressed by his talent and cast him in the film. The film was released on 28 June 1991 and was a super hit. It took 20 years to make this film. It is said that at that time the film was made in Rs 4 crore, which collected Rs 12 crore worldwide.
