Kanpur News: An 18-year-old girl from Gujaini area of ​​Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh was allegedly lured by a Muslim youth to Lucknow and kept her hostage for 25 days. . The girl alleges that she was forced to convert and when she refused, she was beaten up and threatened that she would be burnt alive.

According to the victim, a young man named Shahnawaz had called her to his place in December last year on the pretext of a job in a beauty parlour, after befriending her through a common friend. When she tried to escape, Shahnawaz thrashed her with a belt on January 3 and tried to kill her by pouring kerosene on her.

The girl, who was caught in the clutches of the young man, somehow narrated her ordeal to her relatives through mobile. They reached Lucknow and brought her to Kanpur where she was admitted to a private nursing home. He also informed the police. The girl was later shifted to Ursala Hospital in the city. Later the relatives of the girl lodged a complaint with the Gujaini police. After this, the police reached the hospital and started the investigation by recording the statement of the girl. ADCP South Ankita Sharma said that an FIR has been registered in this regard at Gujaini police station.

The officer said, "The 18-year-old girl had gone to Lucknow in search of a job, where she befriended a person named Shahnawaz. They stayed together for a few days. Later, Shahnawaz beat him up and tried to set him ablaze by pouring kerosene on him."
