Goods train derailed at Korai station, two people died in the accident, rail lines blocked

Goods Train Accident: A goods train derailed at Korai Railway Station in Odisha. Two people died in the accident. Rail lines have been blocked due to the derailment of the goods train and the station building has also been damaged. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over this accident. Expressing his deep condolences to the families of the victims, he announced Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased. 

CM Naveen Patnaik has directed the administration to speed up the rescue work and provide adequate treatment to the injured. The Chief Minister also asked Revenue and Disaster Management Department Minister Pramila Malik to visit the spot and take stock of the situation. 

The accident happened around 7 am 

This accident happened at Korai station of East Coast Railway at around 7 am. Due to this two lines had to be completely closed. According to the information, there is a possibility of some people getting injured. Medical team is present on the spot. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the relief team and railway officials had reached the spot. Rescue operation is also going on. 

Compensation of Rs 5-5 lakh 

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also expressed grief towards those who lost their lives in this accident and their families. The minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the next of kin of the victims. Rs 2 lakh for seriously injured, Rs 25 thousand for minor injured. 

Train operations affected 

At present, the operation of trains is being affected due to the obstruction of both the lines. Passengers of the train station are waiting in the waiting room after the derailment. The station is on Bhadrak-Kapilas Road railway section under Khurda Road railway division of East Coast Railway (ECoR).
