Google starts the rollout of Chrome 100 browser, know what features are going to be available

Google Chrome is the most popular browser in the world. Launched in 2008, Chrome is used daily by millions of users around the world. The tech giant regularly pushes updates to the browser to offer more features to the users. Recently, the company rolled out the ‘milestone’ Chrome 100 update. The version brings with it new designs, features as well as some device removals. Here’s a look at some of the features of Google Chrome 100 and what it means for users.

Google Chrome gets a new logo after almost eight years
Google Chrome gets a new logo with the new update. It looks like the logo (only if you look closely) has bright colors and a big blue circle in the center. Also, the new icon doesn’t have any shadows like the previous one. The logo of Google Chrome has changed after 8 years. The browser was introduced in 2008. Since then, the logo’s design and basic elements have changed over time in 2011 and 2014.

New mute shortcut for tabs
With the new Chrome update, users will be able to see a new mute button on tabs. This feature will allow you to mute audio playing in any app with a single click. When an audio is playing, the browser shows a sound indicator on the tab. This feature uses the indicator as a button to mute the audio. This feature was spotted a few months back in Google Chrome Canary. It is worth noting that this feature is not enabled by default. You need to go to Chrome to enable it.

Lite mode removed for Android and iOS users
With Chrome 100, the company has decided to say goodbye to Lite mode. Light Mode is a special data saving mode offered by Chrome which makes the page load faster and uses up to 60 percent less data. The company claims that this step has been taken in view of mobile data becoming cheaper and faster in the last few years.

Web apps can detect multiple displays
Google Chrome 100 stable update comes with multi-screen window placement API. This means that web apps running on Chrome can now take advantage of the secondary display connected to your PC. Although native apps were able to do this for a long time, the feature of web apps is newer than that.

Last Chrome version to support unreduced user-agent strings
Google Chrome will be the last version of the web browser to support 100 ‘unreduced’ user-agent strings. For those in the know, user-agent strings share important information such as device type and operating system with websites. Sometimes this information may be personal or it may block certain websites on the browser due to incompatibility.

New confirmation pop-up for Android users
After installing Chrome 100, Android users will be able to see a new confirmation pop-up on closing all the tabs at once. "close all tabs? WARNING: This action cannot be undone. Close all tabs but lose any unsaved data?" Comes in pop-up. Tech giants have been testing this feature for a long time.
