Haryana government minister Sandeep Singh should not be allowed to hoist the tricolor on Republic Day: AAP

AAP MP Sushil Gupta Letter To Governor: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Sushil Gupta has written a letter to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday. Sushil Gupta requested that state minister Sandeep Singh, accused in a sexual harassment case, should not be allowed to hoist the tricolor on Republic Day.

AAP’s Haryana affairs in-charge Sushil Gupta alleged that the state government has authorized Minister Sandeep Singh from Pehowa in Kurukshetra district to hoist the tricolor on Republic Day without taking into account the patriotic sentiments of the general public. Pehowa’s BJP MLA Sandeep Singh was recently accused of sexual harassment by a female coach. After these allegations, a police case was also registered against him, after which Sandeep Singh had to leave his sports department. However, he remained a minister in the government led by Manohar Lal Khattar.

Sushil Gupta wrote these things in the letter

Sushil Gupta wrote in his letter, ‘‘As you are already aware, Sandeep Singh is facing a criminal case for sexual harassment of a female coach. A movement is also going on in Haryana to remove him from the Haryana cabinet. In such a situation it is really unfortunate and unethical that a person facing a serious criminal charge is allowed to unfurl the Tricolor as the Chief Guest on an auspicious occasion like our Republic Day.’’
