On Tuesday, before the Republic Day, the Haryana government gave special relaxation of 30 to 90 days to the prisoners of the state. Jail Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala said that the convicts who have been sentenced to 10 years or more, including life imprisonment, have been given 90 days’ exemption. Those who have been sentenced for five years or more but less than 10 years have been given a relaxation of 60 days. Similarly, the convicts who have been sentenced to less than five years have been given a relaxation of 30 days. He was quoted as saying in an official release.
The culprits of these cases will not get exemption
They have said that prisoners convicted of offenses including kidnapping and murder of a child below 14 years of age, rape with murder, any offense under the POCSO Act 2012, robbery or dacoity, kidnapping and extortion, acid attack Discount will not be given. In case of prisoners convicted of drug trafficking, human trafficking, Fake Currency Notes (FICN) under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, 1987, Official Secrets Act, 1923, Foreigners Act, 1948 and Passport Act, 1967 will also not get exemption.
They will also not be exempted, including Pakistani citizens
Pakistani nationals, prisoners of any category Remission will also not be admissible to convicts who have committed the offense of failure to give assurance of good behavior to keep the peace under sections 107, 109, 110 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. This exemption will also not be available to those who were convicted for any major jail offense during the last two years and for that under the relevant provisions of the Punjab Jail Manual, Haryana Jail Rules-2022 or any other act or rules in force on that day.
