Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden believes that four-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are capable of retaining the IPL 2022 title despite the change in leadership. However, CSK suffered a six-wicket loss against Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of this season, in which both their batting and bowling failed to perform as well as they wanted.
But the Ravindra Jadeja-led side will look to score their first point at the Brabourne Stadium when they take on the Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.
Australian batsman Hayden said, "CSK will not be disappointed with the loss in their opening match against KKR. There were a lot of positives for the Ravindra Jadeja-led side. Their top order didn’t carry on in the first match, but there is a lot of experience in it. I am sure they will come back strong in the next match."
He said, he missed Moeen Ali in the first match of the tournament and he will be available for selection in the next match."
It is worth noting that Chennai faced defeat in their first match of this season had to do. CSK were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by 6 wickets. Now the team will play its second match against Lucknow Super Giants. CSK would like to return to the tournament by winning this match.
