Punjab Old Pension Scheme: Taking a big decision, the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has issued the notification of the Old Pension Scheme. With this, now the employees will get the benefit of the old pension scheme. More than 1.75 lakh government employees are going to get the benefit of OPS. This demand has been happening for a long time. CM Bhagwant Mann told that initially the contribution amount for pension fund will be Rs 1 thousand crore every year, which will be increased gradually in future.

CM Mann told that the current reserve fund with NPS is Rs 16,746 crore. For this, the Punjab government will appeal to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority of the Government of India to return this amount. On the other hand, sources say that the state government can use the corpus fund of Rs 17,000 crore deposited with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority for the payment of OPS. In this fund, 10 percent of the salary of the employees and 14 percent of the basic salary for pension is contributed by the state government.

The new pension scheme was implemented from April 1, 2004
Finance department sources say that for this the center will have to be requested to return the money, but it depends on the discretion of the center Is. Only after this the old pension scheme can be implemented. Significantly, Punjab was one of the first states to implement the New Pension Scheme in 2004, when the scheme was launched, it was not mandatory for all states to join it. According to sources, the implementation of OPS will not have any immediate financial impact on the government, as the new pension scheme was implemented from April 1, 2004. Due to this, the employees to be covered under the scheme will retire after 2032.

Full payment of sugarcane farmers has been cleared: CM Mann
The CM said that for the first time in the country, sugarcane farmers will be given Rs 380 per quintal. In this, the central government will give 305 rupees, the Punjab government will give 50 rupees and the sugar mill will give 25 rupees. He told that the Punjab government has cleared the entire payment of the sugarcane farmers. Along with this, the money of many mills has also been cleared.

Lecturers will be recruited
During this, CM Bhagwant Mann also talked about filling 645 vacant lecturer posts in the college. Along with this, the posts of principal will be filled in 16 government colleges. He told that earlier the age limit of lecturer was 45, which has been increased to 53. On the other hand, CM Mann said that the electricity bills of the registered Gaushalas of Punjab have been waived till October 15.

Rs 5-5 lakh given to the families of the martyr
CM Bhagwant Mann told that Rs 25 crore 83 lakh has been transferred to the bank accounts of 29335 farmers. In Punjab, the area under coral crop has increased from 50 thousand acres to 1.25 lakh acres. An additional amount of Rs 40 crore has been given to the farmers on the purchase from Markfed. 3457 farmers have got its benefit, which has resulted in a profit of 26.4 crores. Mann said that an amount of Rs 80 crore has been released to the farmers in case of crop failure in 7 months. CM Bhagwant Mann said that 624 families of the martyrs have been given Rs.5-5 lakh per family during the farmer’s movement. Members of 326 families have been given jobs and others will also be given jobs.
