It is the five-time champions Mumbai Indians who went against inaugural Champions Rajasthan Royals in the ninth match of the IPL 2022. MI put RR to bat first and elected to chase in the game. With one replacement to their side, RR roped in Navdeep Saini in place of Nathan Coulter-Nile, while MI went with an unchanged team.
RR put up a huge score when they faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first game of this season. A combined effort from the batters and the bowlers helped them defend the target and grab their first victory. The Sanju Samson-led side will look forward to maintaining that form and giving tough competition to the opponents.
Rajasthan have quality spinners, they can put MI batters into trouble: Mohammad Azharuddin
As RR chose to bat first, Mohammad Azharuddin said that the Mumbai batters might get into a problematic situation if RR get a big total on board. “Since they’ve already lost one game, they’d want to change the situation to be safe. They wouldn’t want to get a small total and then lose the game and maybe that is playing on their mind,” said Azharuddin on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.
Azharuddin said that Mumbai is a strong side and the result of the toss shouldn’t bother them as whether put to bat first or bowl, they have the players who’re capable of taking the team towards a victory.
“Mumbai is a good side and they shouldn’t worry about batting first. They’ve players who’ve been with them for 10-11 years, and they’re a very good batting unit. If Rajasthan put up a big score, then Mumbai may find it difficult to chase as the former have a strong bowling line-up with quality spinners like Ashwin and Chahal,” the former cricketer added.
Delhi Capitals snatched away Mumbai’s victory from jaws of defeat in the first game, and MI will look to balancing it out by winning their second game.
