INDIA vs ENGLAND: The last match of the five-Test series between India and England is being played at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. On the first day of the match, England won the toss and decided to bowl first. India got off to a bad start after losing the toss and opting to bat first. England fast bowler James Anderson dismissed Shubman Gill in the 7th over. And on the last ball of the 18th over, Anderson sent Cheteshwar Pujara to the pavilion for 13. 

Pak umpire gave out
Earlier Cheteshwar Pujara also got a lifeline. A ball from Stuart Broad, who came to bowl in the 14th over of India’s innings, passed near Pujara’s bat and reached the wicketkeeper’s gloves. Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar gave Pujara out. Soon after, Pujara discussed with the batsman standing at the non-striker’s end and took the DRS. The replays clearly showed that the ball had not hit the bat. 

Status of the match
India scored 338 runs for the loss of 7 wickets till the end of the first day’s play. Rishabh Pant scored a stormy century for India. While Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 83. James Anderson and Matty Potts bowled brilliantly for England. Anderson took 3 wickets. While Potts took 2 wickets. For India, Gill scored 17, Cheteshwar Pujara 13, Hanuma Vihari 20, Virat Kohli 11, Shreyas Iyer 15. Shardul Thakur was dismissed after scoring one run. Jadeja remained unbeaten till the end of the day’s play. He scored an unbeaten 83 in 163 balls.  While Mohammed Shami remained unbeaten without opening an account.
