IPL 2022: Coach Fleming expressed displeasure over CSK not getting DRS, made serious allegations

Stephen Fleming Chennai Super Kings DRS IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming described the absence of Decision Review System (DRS) facility at the start of his innings as ‘unfortunate’. While stating that in the match against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), some decisions went against him during this period. Due to a short circuit at the Wankhede Stadium, DRS facility was not available till the first 10 balls of Chennai’s innings, which hurt his team as some decisions went against him in the meantime.

Chennai’s running form Batsman Devon Conway was unable to reverse the leg-before decision against him while replays showed Daniel Sams’s delivery was coming off the leg-stump. Robin Uthappa was also given out leg before Jasprit Bumrah in the next over and even then there was a possibility of the batsman surviving.

Fleming told reporters after the match, ‘‘ That’s what happened at that time. We were a little disappointed, but that’s also part of the game. At that time some decisions did not go in our favor. It was definitely not a good start for us.” Fleming, however, wants to look at the positive aspects. Fleming said, ‘‘There have been some really positive aspects for us. The bowling of Mukesh (Chowdhary) and Simarjeet (Singh) with the new ball was excellent. In such a situation, we will have some good options to bowl with the new ball when Deepak Chahar returns.’’

He said, ‘‘We didn’t play as well as we should have. Now that we are out of the competition, we can try other players in the remaining two matches.’’
