Jamtara Rape Case: Four people, including a doctor, were arrested and sent to jail in connection with the rape of a patient’s wife in a private nursing home in Jamtara, Jharkhand. On getting information about this incident, on Monday, the local people created a ruckus in the nursing home. Jamtara’s SDPO Anand Jyoti Minj said that the woman had accused Shanti Prasad Mahato and Vinay, two employees of the hospital, of rape. Apart from these two, the doctor and a nurse of the hospital have also been arrested under sections of the SC-ST Act.
The husband was given a sleeping injection
The victim, a resident of Pagradih village, lodged an FIR at the Jamtara police station. It was told in the FIR that her husband had a complaint of hernia, for which he was admitted to the nursing home on 18 January. She was with him in the nursing home to take care of her ailing husband. Late last Sunday, her husband got upset due to pain. When he informed the staff of the nursing home, he was given an injection that made him sleepy.
After this, two personnel of the nursing home coerced her. A cloth was put in his mouth so that he could not make noise. After the rape, the accused threatened that if anyone was told about this incident, the consequences would be bad. Along with caste indicator abuses were also given.
On the second day, when the woman told people about this incident, a large number of people gathered and created a ruckus in the nursing home. The police reached the spot and arrested both the main accused along with a doctor and nurse of the hospital and sent them to jail. Due to the deteriorating condition of the victim, she was admitted to a private hospital.
