Jharkhand: Hemant Soren appears before ED today, JMM workers preparing for protest

Jharkhand Politics: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Ranchi on Thursday (November 17) in connection with the illegal mining case. ED has called Hemant Soren for questioning. Hemant Soren has to appear before the ED at 11 am. In view of Hemant Soren’s appearance, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) workers have started preparing to protest outside the ED office. In view of this, security has been increased outside the ED office.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren was earlier called by the ED on 3 November. Giving information about the busy programs at that time, the Chief Minister told himself to be busy till the foundation day. After this, the ED has given the time of November 17 for questioning. ED has called Hemant Soren to his office on November 17 at 11 am. CM Hemant has to appear in ED office. There is resentment among JMM leaders after this summon. Regarding this, workers and leaders of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will gather at Morhabadi Maidan today and protest.

The tour of meetings continues

On Wednesday (November 16), a day before CM Hemant Soren’s appearance before the ED, a meeting of party legislators was also held at the residence of Congress Legislature Party leader Alamgir Alam. However, eight MLAs including the suspended MLAs of the party did not turn up. The Congress MLAs said that they would fight the present situation with full solidarity. After this, a meeting was also held with the MLAs of the coalition at Chief Minister Soren’s residence late in the evening. It is being told that a meeting of UPA MLAs has been called in Ranchi at 11 am on Thursday, in which further strategy will be discussed.

In what cases will the inquiry be held?

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been summoned by the ED for violation of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and money laundering probe related to an illegal mining case in Sahebganj district. The ED has arrested Soren’s political aide Pankaj Mishra and two other local alleged musclemen Bachchu Yadav and Prem Prakash in the case. ED has said that it has detected illegal mining related crime worth Rs 1000 crore in the state so far.

Many raids have taken place in Jharkhand in connection with illegal mining and money laundering. During the raid, many important documents found related to Hemant Soren have been recovered. These include his checkbooks, passbooks and Hemant Soren’s signature of several banks. ED had recovered important documents in this case from the arrested accused Pankaj Mishra.
