Know everything about Satyapal Malik, who has been troubling the Modi government with his sharp statements?

Former Governor of Meghalaya, Satyapal Malik has fiercely targeted PM Modi, demanding an end to the controversy over OBC reservation in Rajasthan. He said, ‘The Prime Minister needs to understand that the power of power comes and goes. Indira Gandhi’s power also went away, whereas people used to say that no one can remove her. One day you will also leave, so do not spoil the situation so much that it cannot be rectified."

Satyapal Malik has targeted the PM many times before. During this address, he also attacked the central government regarding the ‘Agneepath’ scheme. Satyapal Malik said that this scheme of recruitment of soldiers can weaken the army and the spirit of sacrifice will not remain in the soldiers while serving only three years. He said that the spirit of sacrifice in a soldier will not come for three years of duty.  This is not the first time that Satyapal Malik has not earned the name of the government by making sharp statements.

Satyapal Malik also targeted BJP’s Gujarat model and said, ‘Gujarat model is nothing. There is the same poverty in it. He said that the farmers of our country are suffering. There is unemployment here and there is no good health facility. Also there are no good schools. There is no heaven in Gujarat.

Who is Satyapal Malik

Satyapal Malik has retired from the post of Governor of Meghalaya on 30 September this year. Satyapal Malik comes from the Jat community of western Uttar Pradesh and was made the governor of Bihar after Ramnath Kovind became the President. Before becoming the governor of Bihar, Malik had been prominently raising the issues of farmers in the BJP.

He did his political career as a student leader in Meerut University.  He was elected MLA from Charan Singh’s Bhartiya Kranti Dal in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh in the year 1974. Apart from this, he has also been a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1992.

Joined BJP in 2004

Satyapal Malik has also been associated with Congress before BJP. He joined the Congress in the year 1984. While being associated with the Congress, he also became a Rajya Sabha member but resigned after about three years. He then joined the VP Singh-led Janata Dal in 1988 and was elected MP from Aligarh in 1989.

Satyapal Singh’s journey with BJP started in the year 2004 and he contested the Lok Sabha elections, but in this election he was defeated by Ajit Singh, son of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. He was also the Minister of State at the Center from 21 April 1990 to 10 November 1990.
