In a research, it has been claimed that broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables can slow down the growth of cancer cells in breast cancer. Especially if breast cancer is detected in the first stage, then it can be controlled to some extent by including broccoli in the diet.

In many previous research, it was found that women who included cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage or kale in their diet. The risk of breast cancer decreased in them. Research has also shown that sulforaphane, which is found in high levels in such food items. Carcinogenesis occurs at several stages and may regulate the risk of breast cancer in several ways. It inhibits sulforaphane histone deacetylases, or HDACs, in cancer cells.
