Pain Medicine- Your doctor can give you an over-the-counter pain reliever medicine. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) work for many people. If these medicines do not relieve your pain, then other treatments can be adopted.
Hormone- Hormone therapy reduces the amount of estrogen your body creates and can stop your periods. It helps the wounds to bleed less so that there is no excessive swelling and cyst formation. Normal hormones include –
Birth Control Pills, Patches, and Vaginal Rings
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone
agonists such as elagolix sodium (Orilissa) or leuprolide (Lupron)
Progestin Only Contraceptives
Danazol (Danocrine)
Surgery- Doctors can recommend surgery to remove the affected tissue in endometriosis patients. In some cases, surgery helps symptomatically and can increase your chances of getting pregnant. Your doctor may use a laparoscope or perform a standard surgery. In the most severe cases, you may need hysterectomy surgery to take out your ovaries and uterus.
