New road bridge built on Koilvar Son river after 158 years, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate tomorrow

Ara: The new bridge over the Son River after 158 years is completely ready. The newly constructed 6 lane road bridge at Koilvar will be inaugurated on Saturday 14 May. The grand meeting place and stage is ready for the inauguration program of the remaining three lane down stream bridge. With the construction of the new bridge, there will be relief from traffic jams on Abdul Bari Bridge and its related Ara-Patna NH-30, Ara-Chhapra Ganga Bridge Road and other link roads. Let us tell you that there are 74 spans in this 1.5 kilometer long bridge, which will keep the bridge completely strong.

This new bridge is being built about 500 meters north of the old Abdul Bari bridge.  Trains still pass through the upper lane of the Abdul Bari Koilvar bridge built by the British in 1962 across the Son river. There are also road purs under this bridge. The length of this bridge is 1440 meters. 5683 tonnes of iron has been used in the construction of the old Abdul Bari bridge on the Son river, while the length of the new bridge is 1528 meters. One lane of the bridge was inaugurated two years ago.
