Now students will be able to do two degree programs simultaneously – UGC President

Now students will be able to do two degree courses simultaneously. University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said in a meeting that the provision of conducting two courses simultaneously was discussed in the meeting held by the Commission on the previous day.  After which now the UGC has decided to issue guidelines for the students to pursue 2 academic programs at the same time. He said the decision is in line with the National Policy on Education (NEP) 2022, which stresses the need to facilitate multiple pathways for learning. With this, students will develop many skills. Online and offline mode will be used for this.

UGC Guidelines
A student can pursue 2 full time academic programs in physical mode, provided that the class time of one program does not overlap with the other programme. Along with this, not only 2 courses in physical mode, students can do 1 course in full-time physical mode online or in open, distance learning mode.  In addition, students can pursue one online program with another online programme. The guidelines will be implemented after an announcement on the UGC website tomorrow.
