Padma Awards 2023: The names of the Padma award winners have been announced on Wednesday (January 25) on the eve of Republic Day. For 2023, the President has approved the conferment of 106 Padma Awards. The list includes 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri. 19 awardees are women. Samajwadi Party patriarch and former UP CM late Mulayam Singh Yadav has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan (posthumously).
Balkrishna Dosi and former Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis of West Bengal have also been awarded Padma Vibhushan (posthumously). Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis has been given this honor for the discovery of ORS. Apart from these, music composers Zakir Hussain, SM Krishna, Srinivasa Vardhan were also awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
Padma Shri to Rakesh Jhunjhunwala
Sudha Murthy, Kumar Mangalam Birla among 9 Padma Bhushan awardees. Rakesh Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala (posthumously), RRR film composer MM Keeravani, actress Raveena Ravi Tandon among 91 Padma Shri awardees. Ratan Chandrakar has been given the Padma Shri. Ratan Chandrakar has been honored for his work on the cause of measles in the Jarawa Tribes of Andaman. Hira Bai Lobi has been awarded the Padma Shri for her work on children’s education among the Siddhi Tribes in Gujarat.
Munishwar Chander Davar, war veteran and doctor from Jabalpur treating underprivileged people since last 50 years, has been awarded Padma Shri in the field of Chikitsa (affordable healthcare). For the protection and conservation of Heraka Dharma Naga social activist Ramkuiwangbe Newme of Dima Hasao, who dedicated his life to the cause, was awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Social Work (Culture).
B. Padma Shri to Ramakrishna Reddy
80-year-old linguistics professor from Telangana B. Ramakrishna Reddy will be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of literature and education (linguistics). Gond Tribal Wood Carver Ajay Kumar Mandavi of Kanker will be awarded Padma Shri in the field of art (wood carving). Aizawl’s Mizo folk singer K.C. Ranremsangi will be honored with Padma Shri. Mangala Kanti Roy, a 102-year-old sarinda maestro from Jalpaiguri, will be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of art (folk music).

Padma Shri to Santoor craftsman of Kashmir
Eminent Naga musician and innovator Moa Subong will be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of arts (folk music). Veteran Thamate exponent Munivenkatappa of Chikkaballapur will be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of arts (folk music). Chhattisgarhi Natya Naach artist Domar Singh Kunwar will be honored with Padma Shri in the field of art (dance). Ghulam Mohammad Jaz, the 8th generation santoor craftsman from a family that has been making finest santoor in Kashmir for the past 200 years, will be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of art.
