Pakistan Election Commission tightens noose on former PM Imran Khan, know who got the notice

Pak EC Notice to Imran Khan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Saturday (September 17) Khan) has issued a notice for violating the code of conduct. The Election Commission (EC) has also issued a notice to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province Mahmood Khan. ECP has directed the Chief Minister of KP and Imran Khan to appear before the DMO on September 20 to clarify their position. According to the report of The News International, Imran Khan along with KP government officials addressed a rally in Charsadda, where the by-elections are being held on October 16 and Imran Khan himself is the candidate. As per the election code of conduct, state machinery cannot be used for any political activity in the area where elections are being held.

Furthermore, where the election schedule has been announced, the President, Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Governor, Speaker, Cabinet member or holder of any public office shall not attend any political rally or campaign for any candidate. Cannot use official resources in favor.

Pakistan ECP spokesperson Haroon Shinwari said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and his cabinet members are continuously violating the code of conduct and ECP has taken cognizance of it.  

Election Commission fined Rs 50,000
