Suryakumar hit five fours and six sixes in his innings. He scored a lot of runs especially against Mohammad Siraj, who conceded 51 runs in his quota of four overs without any success.  Mumbai’s team was in bad shape after scoring 80 for six in 14 overs but after this Suryakumar Yadav created a score worth fighting for by creating an unbroken partnership of 72 runs with Jaydev Unadkat (13 not out).

After being invited to bat first, Mumbai’s team was in a good position after scoring 49 runs without any loss in the powerplay but Harshal Patel, who came to bowl in the seventh over, caught his ball. He broke the half-century partnership of the first wicket by showing Rohit, who was looking in great rhythm, the way to the pavilion. Rohit hit four fours and a six in his innings of 26 runs in 15 balls.  Wanindu Hasaranga (two for 28) gave Mumbai a second blow in the ninth over by lbw Dewald Brevis (eight), while Akash Deep (one wicket for 20 runs) in the next over took Siraj standing in place of the third man. Ended Kishan’s innings of 26 runs in 28 balls by getting caught.

In the same over, Tilak Verma was also run out on a brilliant throw by Glenn Maxwell without opening the account.  In the next over, Hasaranga gave Kieron Pollard a leg-before without opening the account on the first ball, giving RCB the fifth success. Mumbai thus lost five wickets within 12 runs, in which three players were dismissed on the score of 62.  Pollard, however, resorted to review   against the on-field umpire’s decision, but to no avail. Harshal then registered his second success by getting Ramandeep Singh (06) playing his first match caught by wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. At this time Mumbai’s score was 79 runs in 13.2 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav, standing at the other end, tried to bring the run-rate back on track in the 15th over by hitting sixes and fours against Shahbaz.  After sending Hasranga’s ball to the audience in the 17th over, he hit two fours against Harshal in the next over. He completed his half-century in 32 balls with one run after hitting a six against Siraj in the 19th over. In this over, he scored 23 runs by hitting two more sixes. Harshal Patel gave only seven runs in the 20th over, on which Suryakumar hit a six on the last ball to take the team’s score beyond 150.
