Record broken number of tourists in Himachal, people reached more than 3 times compared to 2021

Himachal Pradesh Tourism: Tourism in Himachal Pradesh (HP) has picked up pace after a lull due to Covid-19 and till October 31 this year, the number of tourists has crossed that of last year. Compared to this period, there has been an increase of more than three times. According to the data provided by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, the state received 1.28 crore tourists between January 1 and October 31 this year, of which 28,232 were foreigners.

According to statistics, last year in the same period, the number of tourists in the state was recorded only 41.03 lakhs. Due to the Corona virus epidemic, tourism and other related industries in the state suffered a lot, as the number of tourists decreased significantly in the year 2020. During the year 2019, 1.72 crore tourists reached the state, but in the year 2020 this number dropped to 32.13 lakh. However, there was a slight improvement in the year 2021 and this number of tourists increased to 56.37 lakhs.

The lowest number of 7.69 lakh tourists came in January
This year maximum 20.63 lakh tourists came to the state in the month of June, while the lowest number of 7.69 lakh tourists came in January. A total of 30.4 lakh tourists arrived in Kullu and Lahaul Spiti, which is 23.8 percent of the total number of tourists who visited the state during the last 10 months of the year 2022. Atal Tunnel (Evergreen Road) built under the 13058 feet high mountain in Rohtang Pass has emerged as a favorite place of tourists. Amit Kashyap, Managing Director and Director of Tourism, Himachal Pradesh Tourism State Tourism Department Corporation (HPTDC), said, "People who were stuck in their homes due to Kovid-19 have now started coming out."
