‘Russian forces have come close to capture me and my family,’ said Zelensky in the midst of the war

Ukraine Russia Clash: Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russian forces are close enough to capture him and his family. Recalling the days of the beginning of the war with Russia, he said these things in an interview given to Time magazine. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an attack on Ukraine on 24 February.

In the interview, Zelensky said that my wife, Olena Zelenska, was waking up our 17-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son to say that the bombing had started. He said he was very fast. There were explosions everywhere.

It soon became clear that President Zelensky was the target and that the presidential residence was no longer safe. President Zelensky said he was told that the Russian strike team had arrived in Kyiv via parachute and wanted to kill him and his family.

Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andrey Yermaki, said before that night we had only seen this in the movies. Yarmaki also described how the President’s security guards guarded the compound.  He said the door at the front entrance was closed with police barricades and plywood boards, making it look more like a pile of junk than a fortification.

On the first night of the Russian offensive, the lights were turned off and the guards inside the compound brought bulletproof jackets and rifles for Zelensky and his family.

Oleksey Erestovich, a veteran of Ukraine’s military intelligence service, said the scene was insane. Russian soldiers attempted to attack the compound twice while Zelensky’s wife and children were still there. Ukrainian President Zelensky is being praised all over the world amid Russia’s attack. Zelensky had refused to leave the country and go to America and said that he would fight the war by staying in Ukraine.
