Saba Karim gave advice to Team India, young players like Tewatia-Shahrukh should be given a chance

Rahul Tewatia Shahrukh Khan Team India: Former India wicketkeeper-batsman and former member of senior men’s selection committee Saba Karim feels that Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan should be a part of the Indian team’s think-tank. As such the time has come to develop new and young finishers so that the team has more options in this department for the future. Tewatia was the key player for Gujarat Titans to win IPL 2022, scoring 217 runs in 16 matches at a high strike rate of 147.62 and forming a fine finishing pair with South African explosive left-handed batsman David Miller.

Kareem said, "I think now is the time to develop such young cricketers. Because you see, most of the teams in IPL prefer a foreign batsman at that spot. So, you can have David Miller, Rovman Powell or Tim David. This means that still young talents that are coming from the Indian domestic season are still not able to handle the pressure and score runs consistently."

Kareem said, "In the current Indian T20 squad, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik are the designated finishers. Both the names you have named Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Teotia are young. They have the skills and they need to be more consistent. But to do that, we have to develop them, so that they are able to come up to that level of international quality."

Talking about the young prospects for the future, Karim said that he would like to see leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi play for India in all three formats of the game. But at the same time, he said that this young player from Jodhpur has to do better in red ball cricket, something he has not done yet. Bishnoi has taken 16 wickets in ten T20Is at an average of 17.12 and an economy rate of 7.08.
