Akash Madhwal’s exciting journey from engineer to charismatic bowler for Mumbai Indians

Akash Madhwal’s Story: The eliminator match of IPL 2023 was played on Wednesday (May 24) between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants. In this match, Mumbai won by 81 runs and in this victory of the team, fast bowler Akash Madhwal was the biggest hero. Madhwal did that feat by taking five wickets in the Eliminator match of IPL, which till now no bowler could do. Akash became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in an IPL playoff/knockout match. 

I am proud of myself

For his brilliant performance in the eliminator against Lucknow, Akash was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ award. Awarded the title of After getting the title, Akash while talking to Harsha Bhogle said that he is proud of himself. Madhwal said, “I was practicing a lot and waiting for the opportunity. I have done engineering and cricket is my passion. I was waiting since 2018.” Further, Akash said, “Engineers have a tendency to learn quickly.”

Played tennis ball cricket for 23 years 

Former Indian head coach Akash Madhwal had told that Akash was playing tennis cricket till the age of 23. After this he caught the cricket ball (leather ball). Uttarakhand’s coach Wasim Zafar had his first look at Akash. After that he worked hard and waited long to get into the IPL. Akash was bought by Mumbai Indians in the mini auction for this season for a price of Rs 20 lakhs.

Aakash’s long wait for IPL

Akash Madhwal told his story to former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan, “I was waiting for three years. First there was a net bowler in RCB and then he became a support bowler in Mumbai Indians. When I got a chance in Mumbai, my heart was saying that I want to play IPL.”

Even in the opening matches of this year, Akash had to wait for his turn. Before Akash, Arjun Tendulkar and some bowlers got a chance. He made his IPL debut against Punjab Kings. Although he did not get any success in that match and Akash spent 37 runs in 3 overs. 

Please tell that Akash Madhwal has played 10 first class, 17 List-A and total 29 T20 matches in his career. Akash has taken 12 wickets in first-class matches, 18 in List-A and 37 wickets in T20s.
