GT vs MI: Will Shubman Gill win the Orange Cap in Qualifier-2 today? Know how far behind becoming number one

IPL 2023, Orange Cap: IPL 2023 has come towards its last stop. In the tournament today, on Friday, May 26, the second qualifier match will be played between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians. After this, the final match of the season will be held on 28 May. The team that wins today’s match will be the second finalist of this season. And in this match played between Gujarat and Mumbai, Shubman Gill will be eyeing victory as well as the Orange Cap. 

Gill is the second batsman to score the most runs in the tournament. He has scored 722 runs in 15 innings at an average of 55.54 and a strike rate of 149.17. On the other hand, RCB captain Faf du Plessis is at number one in this list with 730 runs. This figure of Faf du Plessis will not be able to move forward after RCB’s exit, while Gill can go ahead of du Plessis by scoring just 9 runs in Qualifier-2 to be played against Mumbai today. 

Gill is in fine form

This season Shubman Gill has appeared in very good form so far. Two centuries have come out of Gill’s bat. Apart from this, he has also put 4 Fifty. His high score in the season has been 104 * runs. This season has been the best for Gill so far. He has scored the most runs this season. 

In the previous season i.e. IPL 2022, he scored 483 runs at an average of 34.50 and strike rate of 132.33, which was the most runs in any season before this season. Gill has now hit 71 fours in IPL 2023. He is present at number three in the list of hitting most fours. Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals is at number one in the list with 82 fours. In such a situation, Gill can name this record as well.
