Faf Du Plessis Statement After Defeat Against Gujarat Titans: Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a 6-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans in a do or die match on Sunday (May 21). With this defeat, RCB’s journey in IPL 2023 ended. After the match, Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis raised questions on his own team. Faf told why this season also Bangalore team missed out on winning the title.
After the match the RCB captain said, "I am very disappointed. Tonight we went down with a very strong team. Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century. The ground was very wet in the second innings. The ground was wet even in the first innings. We had to change the ball many times in the second innings. Virat Kohli played an incredible inning. We thought we had put up a good score. But Shubman Gill played well and took the match away from us."
Faf further said, "Talking about batting, the top-4 showed a good game. But the middle order could not do well for the whole season. Especially in death overs. Kohli played brilliantly throughout the season. Perhaps the whole season we did not have an opening partnership of less than 40. We need to finish the innings well in the end."
He further said, "Last year, Dinesh Karthik did a great batting and scored runs in the end. But this season he could not do so. And if you look at the teams that have been successful, they have great hitters at number five and six."
