IPL 2023: Ben Stokes is a fan of Dhoni’s captaincy, opened his heart on playing with CSK

Ben Stokes On MS Dhoni’s Captaincy: Chennai Super Kings became the second team to qualify in the IPL 2023 playoffs. Now Chennai will play the first qualifier match of the season against defending champions Gujarat Titans tomorrow, Tuesday, May 23. Before this match, CSK’s star all-rounder and England Test team captain Ben Stokes has returned to England. Meanwhile, Stokes revealed why he was excited to play under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh. 

Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a price of 16.25 crores in the mini auction for IPL 2023. However, due to injury, Stokes could play only two matches for Chennai and returned to his country England after the league match was over. Stokes’ return was confirmed by the franchise’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan. Meanwhile, the Chennai all-rounder revealed why he wanted to play under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. 

In a video released by Chennai Super Kings, Stokes said, “I was very excited to play under (under the captaincy of) Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He creates a great atmosphere in the team, but I could only play two matches and then got injured and when I got back to fitness, I knew it would be difficult to break into the team straight away. I was happy to win and support the team.”

Stokes flopped in both matches

It is worth mentioning that Stokes could play only two matches due to his injury and then the combination of the team, in which he scored 15 runs at an average of 7.50 while batting and threw 1 over in bowling, in which he spent 18 runs without taking a wicket.
