IPL 2023 Playoffs: Three teams out and one qualified, now race between 6 teams to reach playoffs

Indian Premier League 2023: Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets in their last league match. With this win, he has still kept himself in the playoff race. Rajasthan is now at 5th position in the points table with 14 points. Royal Challengers Bangalore is at number four due to better net run rate. Mumbai Indians also have 14 points and are at number six. The teams of Delhi, Hyderabad and Punjab Kings have been eliminated from the playoff race so far.

So far after 67 league matches, only Gujarat Titans have been able to secure their place for the playoffs. For the remaining 3 places, the race is still being seen among 6 teams. It includes the teams of Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

If the Chennai and Lucknow teams win their last league matches, they will qualify directly for the playoffs. But if they are not able to do so, then they will have to depend on the results of other matches. Chennai have to play their last league match against Delhi while Lucknow have to play against Kolkata.

All eyes on the matches in Bangalore and Mumbai

Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained the playoff race by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last match. Now, apart from winning their last league match, they will also have to keep an eye on the results of the other matches. RCB has to play its last match against Gujarat at its home ground. This match is also the last league match of this season.

Mumbai Indians also remain in the playoff race. The team currently has 14 points in 13 matches but the net runrate is -0.128. In such a situation, the team will not only have to win their last league match but will also have to improve the net runrate a lot. Rajasthan and Kolkata are also in the playoff race. Kolkata will have to get a big win in their last league match. KKR currently have 12 points but have a net run rate of -0.256.
