Ganguly had put his captaincy at stake for Kumble
The friendship of Kumble and Ganguly is very old. Both of them have played cricket together for many years for Indian cricket. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly once put his captaincy at stake in front of the selectors in 2003 to keep Anil Kumble in the team. In fact, the selectors did not want to keep Anil Kumble in the team for the tour of Australia, but Ganguly said that he had to keep Kumble in the team at any cost.
Anil Kumble has taken the most wickets for India in his career. He took 619 wickets in Test matches and 337 wickets in ODIs. On the other hand, if we talk about Sourav Ganguly, he scored 7,212 runs in Test matches and 11,363 runs in ODIs during his career.
