Virender Sehwag On Umran Malik: The league matches of IPL 2023 are over. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were a part of the tournament, ended this season by being 10th in the points table. The team also had to face defeat in their last match played against Mumbai Indians. Very bad bowling was seen from Hyderabad in the match. Many bowlers of the team appeared unsuccessful. Fast bowler Umran Malik was also involved in this. Former Indian player Virender Sehwag was completely unhappy with Umran’s performance this season.
In the match played against Mumbai Indians, Umran Malik spent 41 runs in 3 overs with an economy of 13.70 and did not get any wicket. Umran Malik played 8 matches this season, in which he took only 5 wickets. And in their last league match played against Mumbai Indians, Hyderabad put 200 runs on the board while batting first, which was chased by Mumbai Indians in 18 overs.
After this match, Virender Sehwag was seen raging on Umran Malik. He said that even after being with Umran Dale Steyn, he is not able to learn from him. Talking on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said, “The bowlers were not good. The captain could ask him to keep long off and long on. The thing was that you completely failed to stop the flow of runs.”
Umran not learning even after being with Dale Steyn: Sehwag
Sehwag further said, “If it was a South African fast bowler, I could understand that he would not want to bowl too full. But Umran Malik… the problem is that he keeps changing his length. He doesn’t have experience yet. He may have worked a lot with Dale Steyn, but he doesn’t really know his length. Despite working with Stan for so long and learning under his guidance, he continues to make the same mistakes he made last year.”
