Srihari, Joshna reach semifinals of 50m backstroke, quarterfinals of squash women’s singles

Commonwealth Games 2022: Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraja clocked 25.52 seconds to qualify for the semi-finals of the men’s 50m backstroke event of the 22nd Commonwealth Games on Sunday. This is his second consecutive semi-final in these games. He also made it to the last 16 of the 100m backstroke. 

Natraj’s personal best is 24.40 seconds which he achieved during the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships held in UAE last year.

Natraj finished seventh in the 100m backstroke event. In the men’s 200m butterfly event, Sajan Prakash finished fourth in 1:58.99s and was placed in the reserve list as he finished ninth fastest overall. The best eight swimmers advanced to the finals.

Prakash and Kieron Pollard of Australia took equal time after which Prakash did a ‘swim-off’ between the two. I made it to the first reserve by clocking 1:58.31 seconds. If any of the eight swimmers who reached the finals are unable to enter one of the pools or drop out of the finals, Prakash will take his place. ‘swim-off’ There is a special swimming race in which the winner qualifies for the next level after failing the normal elimination race.
