Rahul Gandhi On Savarkar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement against Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar has created a ruckus. Political rhetoric has intensified. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has defended Rahul Gandhi saying that he has not targeted Savarkar but has only presented historical facts. 

Nathuram Godse was influenced by Savarkar

The Congress leader claimed that it is a fact that Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, was influenced by Savarkar. He claimed that Savarkar’s ideology was behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that the ideology that Savarkar believed in was the reason for Gandhiji’s murder. 

RSS opposed the Quit India Movement

He said that those who are angry on the issue of Savarkar, how can they deny the historical facts? RSS opposed the Quit India movement. Syama Prasad Mukherjee supported the partition of Bengal. The Jana Sangh had joined hands with the Muslim League to form the government.

Let us tell you that during a press conference on Thursday at Wadegaon in Akola district, Rahul Gandhi had said that Savarkar had helped the then British government and had signed the apology papers out of fear of them. Protests are taking place after Rahul Gandhi’s comment and Uddhav Thackeray has even said that he does not agree with the Congress leader’s statement on the freedom fighter.
