Gujarat Election 2022: Gujarat assembly elections all the parties are busy campaigning loudly. The Election Commission is also putting the final touches to the election preparations. At the same time, almost half of the total number of eligible voters in the upcoming elections to the Gujarat Legislative Assembly are below 40 years of age. However, the share of first-time voters in this group has declined.

11.74 lakh voters will vote for the first time
According to the new enrollment data released by the Election Commission, out of 4.9 crore voters, about 2.35 crore voters are below 40 years of age. Out of the total number of voters, the number of first-time voters is 11.74 lakh, which is less than the number of voters in the age group of 18-19 in 2012 and 2017 assembly elections. 

According to the commission’s data, the voters who are going to vote for the first time in this election are 2.39 percent of the total voters of Gujarat. And in the 2017 elections, 2.7 percent i.e. 11.8 lakh out of total voters 4.33 crore and in 2012 it was 3.5 percent i.e. 13.3 lakh out of 3.81 crore voters. 

One-fourth of the total voters
Out of this, the maximum share of 40 year old voters is in the age group of 30-39. There are 1.21 crore voters in this group. This is one-fourth of the total voters of Gujarat. Whereas, in the 2017 assembly elections, the number of voters in the age group of 30-39 was 1.12 crore. The second largest number of voters is in the age group of 20 to 29, which has 1.03 crore voters. At the same time, 9.8 lakh voters are in the age group of 80 years and above. There were 6.3 lakh voters in this age group in 2017. 

Voting for 182 assembly seats in Gujarat will be held for the first phase on December 1 and for the second phase on December 5. While the election results will come on December 8. On the other hand, in Gujarat elections, all the parties have given their full strength in election campaign and management. PM himself on behalf of BJP Narendra Modi has taken charge of the election campaign. Congress is also making every effort to return to power after 27 years. And Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal is continuously touring Gujarat.
