UK PM Boris Johnson arrives in Kyiv, meets President Zelensky

Russia Ukraine War: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Saturday (April 9). According to media reports, this is an undeclared visit of the British PM. In addition to Johnson, other members of the British government also arrived in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Saturday morning for a meeting with President Zelensky and other Ukrainian military/government officials.

President Zelensky’s aide Andrey Sibiha posted a picture of the two leaders saying, "Boris Johnson’s visit to Kyiv has just begun with a meeting with President Zelensky." Britain will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine
Earlier on Friday, Johnson met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who arrived in London. Johnson then announced that Britain would send more defensive weapons to Ukraine. He said, “Britain and Germany are afraid of Putin’s aggression and have agreed that both countries should go further to help Ukraine. Britain will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine and work with G7 partners to ensure Putin’s failure and target every pillar of the Russian economy."

Britain imposed sanctions on Putin’s daughters 
The British government said on Friday that it has Putin’s daughters – Katarina Tikhonova and Maria Vorontsova and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s daughter – Yakaterina Vinokurova – have confiscated and imposed travel restrictions on them. Britain says it has imposed sanctions on 1,200 Russian citizens and businesses, including 16 banks, since the Russian attack on Ukraine on February 24.
