India vs New Zealand ODI Series: Indian team will play ODI series against New Zealand from 25 November. The first match of this series will be played in Auckland. Shikhar Dhawan has been made the captain of Team India for the ODI series. His record as ODI captain is much better. Once again under his captaincy, he would like to perform well for India. Recently, Dhawan has also been given the captaincy of the IPL team Punjab Kings. From the New Zealand tour to the upcoming IPL, he is going to have a tough test as captain. During an interview, when he was asked what are the things he needs to work on to improve his leadership? Shikhar answered this question in the best way.
Humility is the key to success
During the interview with ESPNcricinfo, when Shikhar Dhawan was asked what are the areas he needs to work on to improve his leadership? In response to this question, he said, I have not thought about it yet. I have captained India on three or four tours so far. My tenure so far has been very successful. An emotional bond is very important wherever I go. “Keeping my ego in check as a captain, being humble on the field, showing compassion are the keys to my success as a captain,” he added.
Dhawan on the experience of captaining SRH
During the interview, Shikhar Dhawan was asked how was the experience of captaining Sunrisers in IPL 2014. In response to this question, he said, I still think that you should be given a full season for captaincy. Dhawan said, if I had known that the captaincy of Sunrisers was being given for half the season, I would have refused. I was not doing well as a batsman that season. Perhaps the team management must have felt that I am under pressure. I felt it didn’t matter but I accepted his decision at that time.
