Ghebreyesus’ statement said, "The weekly number of reported deaths has dropped dramatically since we first used the word ‘pandemic’ three years ago. This is a big improvement, which is very important." He said, "I am confident that at some point this year we will be able to say that COVID-19 is over. And, it would no longer be of international concern as a pandemic, as it had become a public health emergency.
‘Lessons to be learned from this pandemic’
He said that everyone should learn the lessons of this epidemic. Ghebreyesus said, "If we don’t learn from this, we will repeat the cycle of panic and neglect that has been the hallmark of the global response to pandemics and pandemics for decades."
