Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Ukraine welcomes issuance of arrest warrant against Russian President, says ‘this is just the beginning’

Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has welcomed the move of the International Court of Justice against Vladimir Putin. According to the report of the news agency AFP, the President of Ukraine has described the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Russian President Putin as the beginning.

The International Criminal Court on Friday (March 17) issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin for action in Ukraine. The International Criminal Court held that the President of Russia is responsible for the war crime of allegedly illegal transfer of people (especially children) from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russian. 

What did the court say?

The court has also issued a warrant against Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Russia, on similar allegations. The court also noted that the Russian president had failed to exercise his authority to prevent others from deporting children.
